Here we try to explain practical things such as clothing, hydration and nutrition or physical preparation. Meeting place and time
After you registered for one of our tours you'll get all the necessary informations via e-mail. Most importantly, we will let you know about the exact time and place of meeting. This message will be sent to you one day before the tour again.
In this email you will receive information about the duration, distance, altitude, and difficulty of the tour. We will send you some useful tips how to prepare for the tour and what you can expect from us during the day.
At the end of the tour we will ride back to the meeting place.
Clothing choices should be made according to the weather. Always check the weather forecast before you decide what to wear on the tour! It's a good idea to wear layers which can be removed or added as the weather conditions change. You can easily pack your stuff in our Rudy Project backpack you'll get for the tour from us.
Especially during spring and autumn there can be huge differences between the temperatures in the morning and during the day and you should adjust your clothing according to this. Avoid clothes which can get caught in the chain or would blow a lot in the wind, and make sure that your shoes are tightened and your shoelaces are tied properly.
In case of rain forecasted, we will bring some raincoats with ourselves, therefore it's not a problem if you don't have one. We will borrow you one until we find a shelter in case of heavy rain. We know that size and comfort matters, so the best option is to bring your own raincoat.
Rudy Project helmet, sunglasses and rucksack are part of your all inclusive package. In case you would like to, you can still use your own equipments. Additionally, some spare complementaries such as bike gloves, knee and spine protectors will be available from our minivan at the starting point of the tour.
Based on your fitness level and expereience with mountain biking you can choose the best tour level (rookie, advanced or extreme) for yourself. In case of rookie and advanced level tours you don't need any serious physical preparation, but there are still some things you want to keep in your mind. Of course if you're on holiday around Lake Balaton or in Budapest you will explore its amazing nightlife, but if you want to participate on a bike tour we recommend you to sleep at least 6-8 hours.
If you go for a harder tour it's even more important to be fit in the morning. Hangover during a ride is definately not fun. Have a proper breakfast! This is gonna be your last proper meal for a while, so fuel yourself! Slow release carbohydrates should be the focus of your breakfast as it helps to keep your blood sugar levels more stable.
Avoid too much heavy fat and foods with high glycemic index. An ideal pre-ride meal could be a bowl of oatmeal with a little bit of nut butter and some fresh fruits like banana or berries. If you have registered to an extreme level tour, you most probably know what mountain biking is all about. We suggest to have a regeneration day before you come with us and get your muscles relaxed and ready to ride.

Hydration and nutrition
It doesn't matter if the temperature is low or high, for sure you have to hydrate and refill your electrolytes as well. Depending on the temperature and your efforts 500ml fluid should be taken every 1-1,5 hours of riding. The easiest way to do this is to sip one or two every ten minutes from your water bottle.
Since all of our tours exceed one hour riding time, you should take small amounts of high GI carbohydrates, which helps to top up blood glucose and provides ongoing fuel to the working muscles, to help maintain energy. Energy gels, jellied sweets, banana and large cereal bars or carbohydrate based energy bars can be part of your choice and taste.
We have the most simple planning for the tour. That's why we provide you with a starter kit of Rudy Project backpack, filled with water bottle, iso, snacks and everything you'll need during the ride, so you can fully concentrate on your pure adventure.
What to do in case of an accident
Most of our bike tours go through hills and forests, but sometimes we bike through public roads as well. Therefore you should be always aware of road conditions and of others on the road. Although our tour guides are experienced professionals, and we always take your attention to the potential risks before the tour and continuously on the way, accidents and injuries may occur unexpectedly at any time.
In case of an accident, it's the most important to stay calm and follow the instructions of our tour guides. In case of a personal injury, our tour guide will instantly call 112, and we are prepared for immediate first aid as well.
If you have to be taken into hospital, one of our tour guides will accompany you and help during the upcoming processes. To avoid high costs of any kind of hospital treatment, we provide an extreme sport insurance for all of our customers as part of your all inclusive package.
Since we spend a lot of time under the sunny sky, we have to take care of our skin. And of course, we take care of yours as well. Two types of solar radiation - UVB and UVA - pose a threat to our skin and increase our risk of skin cancer. UVB rays are responsible for sunburns, while UVAs cause premature skin aging.
Exposure to both types of radiation significantly increases the risk of skin cancer. Remember that even on overcast days, UV rays reach our skin, since they penetrate clouds. Sunscreens are safe, highly effective way to protect yourself from the damaging rays of the sun.
Over the years, there have been alarming stories regarding the use of sunscreen. Most of these informations are not founded on scientific evidence. Therefore we always have high quality sunscreen in our van so you can use it if you don't have your own or simply forgot to bring it.
Maintenance of bikes
This is something you don't really have to take care of, because it's our job to maintain our bike fleet continuously. However, we are always happy if you'd like to join the maintenance section after the tour. In case we biked through muddy areas, or the weather was rainy, we start with a quick bike wash and rinse.
Once the bikes are clean, we put the batteries on charge. Afterwards we check breaks, derailleur and wheels. If needed, we put some oil on the chain and pump the tyres to get the optimal pressure between 18-30 Psi or 1.2 - 2.0 Bar.
Our maintenance tasks don't stop here. Once the batteries are fully charged, we put them back in the bike frame.Then, before giving it out to you or any other customer, we try each of the bikes by riding them for a few seconds.
If there is any major issue with any of the bikes, we have to put some extra effort to fix the bug. Thanks to god, we are in good relationship with local distributors, therefore even bigger problems can be solved in relatively short time. Most importantly, you will always get a high quality e-bike which is in excellent condition.
